The Home as a Canvas
Colour came to my rescue when we had to resurrect, redo and move into a bland old house with little personality in a really short time. In the space of four months we had to gut bathrooms and kitchens, resize and reshape spaces and demolish walls to let light flow through the house.
With no time to indulge in elaborate remodelling, I used walls, floors and furniture as my canvases to bring, I hoped, quirk and charm in and turn the house into a home.
Gulmohars sprang up on walls, birds posed on the ancient wooden circuit board covers, popped up in the oddest places and tables had cats in conversation. My home has become an artwork-in–progress, and unlimited fun.
Every home I believe has something, that with a little imagination and colour can be converted into a joyful and charming treasure.
